Themes: Choose how the site looks
The theme sets the colours of the whole site โ the page behind everything, the panel your song sits on, and the shade used for links and buttons.
It is entirely your own choice. Changing it affects only what you see, never what anyone else sees, and never the songs themselves.
Choosing one
The theme box is at the top right of the screen, beside your name or the login button. Click it and pick from the list. The page changes straight away, so you can try each one and settle on whichever is easiest on your eyes.
Your choice is remembered, and applies everywhere on the site rather than just the page you happened to be on.
The four themes
Legacy โ the one you get to start with, and close to how OzBCoz has always looked. If you have used the site before and would rather nothing changed, leave it here.
Teal โ the same layout with a softer, warmer content area. Easier on the eye over a long session.
Red โ a stronger, higher contrast look.
Dark โ light text on a dark background. Suits low light, and some people find it more comfortable generally.
๐ก Handy hint: Themes change colour only. Every button stays where it was, so nothing you have learned moves about.
Setting your own background colours
If none of the four is quite right, you can set two colours yourself:
Page background โ the area behind everything.
Content background โ the panel the song sits on.
Both start at Theme default, meaning they follow whichever theme you have picked. Tick the box beside either and you can choose your own colour instead.
There are two places to do it, depending on how widely you want it to apply:
- In Default Settings, to change it everywhere on the site
- In Settings, to change it for one song only
๐ก Handy hint: A useful combination if you read for long stretches is the Teal theme with a warm beige page and a light grey content area. Gentler than white, without losing contrast on the words.
If reading is still difficult
Themes change colour, not size. If the problem is that the words are too small, the settings you want are elsewhere:
- Larger text and clearer fonts โ bigger print, Low Vision and Dyslexia fonts, bold options
- Screen reader mode โ chord names written out in words so they can be read aloud
